Climate Justice Africa (Yanayi Haki Afriqya) proudly stood alongside more than 7,000 young people during the #ClimateChangeMarch26, as school children from across Uganda took to the streets to demand a livable, greener future.
The march was a powerful reminder that climate action is no longer a distant conversation it is a lived reality for young people who are stepping forward as leaders today.
Representing Yanayi Haki Afriqya(Climate Justice Africa) on the ground, Kobusingye carried forward a message we have consistently championed: climate justice is a people’s issue. It is rooted in communities, driven by lived experiences, and sustained by collective action. Across the march, that message was echoed in chants, placards, and the unwavering determination of young voices refusing to be ignored.
The event also carried deep emotional and historical significance. The spirit of the late Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanyah, who once stood with children and encouraged them to keep pushing for change, was strongly felt. His legacy continues to inspire a new generation of climate advocates who understand that their voices matter.
Amplified by passionate changemakers like Benon Kigenyi and Lil Hands Go Green, the energy throughout the march was undeniable. It was not just a demonstration it was a movement. A movement grounded in urgency, hope, and the belief that Africa’s youth are not just participants in climate action, but leaders shaping its future.
