Yanayi Haki Afriqya (YHA) has launched the Sustaining Empowerment, Education, and Development for Climate Justice (SEED) initiative, a transformative program designed to strengthen climate action across Africa. The project brings together educators, youth activists, and communities from Uganda, Nigeria, DR Congo, Malawi, Mauritius, Somalia, and South Sudan to advance climate knowledge, advocacy, and local solutions.
At the core of the initiative is climate education, with 40 teachers receiving specialized training to integrate sustainability into classrooms—creating a ripple effect that will reach thousands of students. In parallel, 50 young climate activists will be equipped with skills in policy engagement, advocacy, and international climate processes, empowering them to lead impactful change in their communities.
The program also focuses on strengthening YHA’s institutional capacity, improving monitoring systems, and expanding partnerships to ensure long-term impact. Over the past year, YHA has grown significantly expanding its global presence, participating in COP30 with five delegates, securing NGO registration, and building new collaborations.
Through SEED for Climate Justice, YHA is laying the foundation for a stronger, more connected movement of climate leaders driving forward a just and sustainable future across Africa.
