Climate Change Integration for Educators (CCIE)

The Climate Change Integration for Educators (CCIE) programme is a teacher capacity-building initiative developed by Yanayi Haki Afriqya to strengthen climate literacy and climate action in schools and communities across Uganda.

CCIE equips educators with practical climate knowledge, learner-centered teaching approaches, and tools to integrate climate change into everyday learning. Through interactive online sessions, mentorship, collaborative learning, and school-based climate projects, the programme empowers teachers to become climate educators, community mobilizers, and champions of resilience.

Recognizing that teachers play a critical role in shaping future generations, CCIE seeks to bridge the gap between climate science and local realities by incorporating African perspectives, Indigenous knowledge, and community experiences. The programme supports educators to translate complex climate concepts into meaningful lessons that inspire action among learners and communities.

By building a network of climate-literate educators, CCIE aims to transform classrooms into hubs of awareness, resilience, and sustainability, while contributing to Uganda’s climate education priorities and the UNFCCC Action for Climate Empowerment (ACE) framework.
